Article Reviewing Procedure

  1. All scientific manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to double blind peer review.
    2. Editorial Office decides on the manuscript compliance to the thematic area of the journal and the design requirements.
    3. Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, or an Administrative Editor determine the scientific value of the manuscript and appoint minimum two peer reviewers.
    4. Manuscripts are reviewed by the Editorial Council and Editorial Board members and external reviewers who are experts in the field, working in research areas relevant to the area of the manuscript. Scientific publications by the editor-in-chief are reviewed by external reviewers.
    5. A reviewer cannot be an author or co-author of the reviewed work, a supervisor of the candidate for a degree, an employee in the department where any author of the article is employed.
    6. The reviewing process shall be confidential.
    7. The review shall objectively evaluate a scientific paper and contain an analysis of its scientific and methodological strengths and weaknesses. The review is provided in accordance with the Editorial Office requirements and ends up with the reviewer’s opinion: (a) the manuscript is recommended for publication; (b) the manuscript is recommended for publication after correction by the comments; (c) it is recommended to refer to the manuscript for further review; (d) the manuscript is not recommended for publication.
  2. The reviewing procedure:
    1) 1) An appointed reviewer receives an e-mail notification from the Journal electronic submission system (https://ojs.oncojournal.kz/) on being appointed a reviewer of a submitted manuscript;
    2) The reviewer enters the system using the link provided in the e-mail, downloads the materials provided for review, and uploads his/her review and any necessary comments to the author(s)/editor(s). The review shall be uploaded within 5 working days, if not agreed to the contrary with the Editorial Office;

    A link to the template is also included in the review request letter to the reviewer.
    3) If the initial review contained any remarks or comments and the author submitted a revised manuscript, the reviewer shall review such a revised manuscript within 5 working days, if not agreed to the contrary with the Editorial Office.

    9. The review with the comments is sent to the author to make corrections and additions. The author can convincingly (partially or completely) refute the comments. The manuscript revised by the author is reviewed again.
    10. In case of any contradictions between the author(s) and the reviewer regarding the data provided in the manuscript, the Editorial Council can refer the manuscript to another reviewer for additional review.
    11. The Editorial Council considers the reviews and decides on accepting or rejecting the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief has a final word in case of a dispute.
