Analysis of the cancer incidence structure in the Republic of Uzbekistan

Relevance: According Globocan 2020 there were 19.3 million new cases of malignant neoplasms worldwide. Breast cancer in women has become the most commonly diagnosed oncological pathology, followed by lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and stomach cancer. Moreover, in Uzbekistan, in the general structure of oncological morbidity, malignant neoplasms of the breast, stomach, cervix, lung and brain occupy the leading positions.
Purpose: Analyze the incidence trend and morbidity structure in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2020.
Materials and methods. To analyze condition of morbidity and its structure we studied the state report of Ministry of Health of Republic of Uzbekistan «Information of malignant neoplasms».
Results. In 2020 in Uzbekistan, 21976 new cases of malignant neoplasms were registered. The ratio of newly diagnosed men and women was 0,7: 1,4. Breast, cervix, and ovarian cancers became the most frequently diagnosed oncological pathologies among women, while stomach, lung and prostate gland cancers were more common in men. Moreover, at young age, hemoblastosis is more often diagnosed, at working age population - breast cancer, and in old age - stomach cancer.
Conclusions. Analysis of statistical information showed that the number of new cases of malignant neoplasms in Uzbekistan is increasing every year. In different age categories there are significant differences in the structure of oncological morbidity. This determines the need for further improvement of cancer care in Uzbekistan.
